This history preserves the anonymized wording and earlier written responses in the imported project records. Earlier responses may describe a previous design or contain wording now under review. Use the linked consolidated question for the current response status.
A source record can contain several questions. These records are not a count of individual submissions or people. Original messages and dates are still being reconciled; this history does not establish that every project submission has been captured.

Charlton Select Board Meeting · April 14, 2026How big is the proposed battery storage project in terms of capacity and acreage?
The proposed facility will have a capacity of 150 megawatts (MW) of battery storage, enough stored energy to serve up to 120,000 homes for about four hours, feeding the regional grid. The fenced equipment area itself will cover about 5 acres or less, and total site disturbance, including tree clearing, will not exceed 10 acres of the just over 47-acre parcel.

Community Public Forum · September 30, 2026What exactly is being proposed?
A 150 megawatt battery energy storage system with about 600 megawatt-hours of storage, which is about four hours at full output. The latest design uses 136 battery units, down from 156 in July. It stores electricity from the grid and sends it back. It does not generate any power, and there is no solar or gas. It does more than provide backup in an outage: it also helps keep voltage and demand steady on the grid.
