This history preserves the anonymized wording and earlier written responses in the imported project records. Earlier responses may describe a previous design or contain wording now under review. Use the linked consolidated question for the current response status.

A source record can contain several questions. These records are not a count of individual submissions or people. Original messages and dates are still being reconciled; this history does not establish that every project submission has been captured.

Website and email · August 4, 2026Has the Charlton Fire Department independently determined that it has the staffing, water supply, equipment, training, and mutual-aid capacity to respond to a 150 MW/600 MWh battery facility?

Earlier written draft (answers as of October 7, 2026)

That determination is the Fire Chief's to make, not ours. We are in active working sessions with the Fire Chief, the emergency management plan is being developed with the department, and, as announced publicly on August 4, the town will select an independent third party, paid for by us, to review that plan.

Earlier written draft (answers as of October 7, 2026)

Staffing at the fire department is a town matter, and we do not comment on it. What we have said in writing is that the Fire Chief decides what capacity the facility needs, that the project covers the costs it creates, and that the Emergency Action Plan is being built with Charlton Fire and reviewed by an independent reviewer the town selects and the project pays for. The operator must provide training to the fire department before the facility operates and every year after, and Charlton Fire has said it would bring in neighboring departments for a large incident, with tours and practice exercises beforehand. The draft Community Benefits Plan also lists fire equipment and training.
