This history preserves the anonymized wording and earlier written responses in the imported project records. Earlier responses may describe a previous design or contain wording now under review. Use the linked consolidated question for the current response status.

A source record can contain several questions. These records are not a count of individual submissions or people. Original messages and dates are still being reconciled; this history does not establish that every project submission has been captured.

Public Community Meeting #1 · July 8, 2026How close are the cabinets to each other?

Earlier published response

Our spacing complies with the manufacturer's safety specifications for current-generation Tesla Megapack 3 units, which are designed to prevent thermal spread while allowing responder access. The units require a minimum clearance of 25 inches side-to-side, 9 to 24 inches back-to-back (depending on the configuration), and 108 inches (9 feet) at the front of each unit. Beyond these unit-to-unit clearances, the outer perimeter fence sits approximately 50 feet away from the battery layout, with a 26-foot access road running inside the fence to accommodate emergency and maintenance vehicles.

Public Community Meeting #1 · July 8, 2026How thick are the cabinets?

Earlier published response

According to the Tesla Megablock / Megapack 3 technical specifications, each individual unit is 336.5 inches (28.0 feet) long, 112 inches (9.3 feet) tall, and 75.75 inches (6.3 feet) deep. This depth represents the pack's overall thickness. For the steel walls, the published engineering reports specify a structural pressure rating rather than a wall thickness. That rating comes from the Fire Protection Engineering report for the earlier Megapack 2/2XL generation, which the Megapack 3 evolved from: the enclosure withstands 30 kPa (626 psf) of pressure, and the overpressure vents open at 12 kPa to provide a 2.5 times safety factor. This rating depends on the entire assembly, including framing, stiffeners, and door latching, which prevents us from defining a single wall thickness. The only 5/8-inch (16 mm) steel plate in the specifications belongs to the foundation-anchor welding pads at the four corners, which secure the unit to the ground. Tesla has not yet published complete performance documentation for the Megapack 3, and we will share model-specific engineering reports as they become available.
