Question and Submission History
Original questions and earlier responses, linked to the consolidated answer bank.
This history preserves the anonymized wording and earlier written responses in the imported project records. Earlier responses may describe a previous design or contain wording now under review. Use the linked consolidated question for the current response status.
A source record can contain several questions. These records are not a count of individual submissions or people. Original messages and dates are still being reconciled; this history does not establish that every project submission has been captured.

Public Community Meeting #1 · July 8, 2026Do you have approval and permits for this project? Have you filed anything yet?
Earlier published response
No. We do not have permits yet. We remain in the pre-filing stage and have not submitted any applications. We want to gather community feedback first to incorporate your concerns into our design. We intend to file for interconnection with ISO-New England in October of this year, but we will likely file our application with the state Energy Facilities Siting Board (EFSB) in 2027. Once we file, the EFSB review becomes a formal public proceeding. Residents can comment on the record, and community groups and the town can seek intervenor status to participate as full parties. The state's Intervenor Support Grant Program helps fund that participation, paying intervenor groups up to $150,000 per proceeding for attorneys and technical experts. It covers proceedings that begin on or after July 1, 2026, so it will be available for this project's review.

Website and email · September 10, 2026, 8:14 AM ETSo how do we stop this project from happening? I'd rather the trees and wildlife stay and do their job rather than receive 4 hours of power if the grid goes out. That's what my solar and generator are for.

Comments on the draft Community Benefits Plan are open into 2027, and every comment is logged and receives a written response.
The facility is not designed as backup power for homes. It supports the regional grid by storing electricity when supply is high and returning it when demand peaks.

Website and email · October 2, 2026, 10:26 PM ETWe do not want this project or its associated presence in our town. Our community does not need or support it, and we believe it places an unnecessary burden on local residents. We are deeply concerned that the decisions being made by our government are disregarding the interests and concerns of our community. In particular, we believe these policies are imposing significant costs and consequences on our town without sufficient consideration for the people who live here. This is not what our community asked for, and we deserve to have our voices heard and our local interests respected

The comment is recorded in the engagement log. Charlton's bylaw limits battery projects to 5 megawatts, and this one is 150, so the state's Energy Facilities Siting Board reviews it and can issue a consolidated approval covering some local permits. Many residents object to that, and the objection is recorded. The state process includes public comment and hearings, and the town can take part. Residents can comment on the draft Community Benefits Plan into 2027, and every comment receives a written response.
